Bwindi currently has 10 groups currently available for tourism tracking with some for research and habituation activity.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in South western Uganda at the edge of the Rift valley spread over a series of steep ridges and valleys with five major rivers flowing to Lake Edward.
The Bwindi Forest is one of Uganda’s oldest biological diverse rain forests of over 25,000 years of existence with mist-covered hill sides containing over 400 species of plants and trees.
This forest national Park has a population of over 459 mountain gorillas roughly half of the world’s gorilla population. This dense forest is home to several primate species such as baboons, chimpanzees as well as antelopes, elephants plus over 350 species of birds, butterflies and some reptiles.
Buhoma and Nkuringo areas nearest to the park are inhabited by the Bakiga and Batwa tribes which gives a good opportunity for one to discover more of the Batwa Pygmy cultures through cultural dance and story performances, workshops, and village walks.
