Being biologically diverse, the region shelters more than 120 mammals, primates like baboons and chimpanzees plus few elephants and antelopes with over 370 species of birds including blue headed Bee eater and low-land masked Apalis.

There are over 13 species of primates and monkeys and chimpanzees that can be tracked during the Kanyanchu primate walk to spot the primates that are accustomed to human presence and chances of spotting them is good. Guided walks start at around 8am to 2pm and last for an average of three hours.

 

Every walk can consist of 6 pax per tracking with 90% chance of spotting the chimpanzees most especially which is the most population of about 1500 in total. Kanyantale is the most visited Chimp group
